They are supposed to be Australorp crosses. I think something else is added to the mix. I'll add photo. Are you able to guess what they may be. Thanks.

They might be commercial hybrid layers, for example, Bond's site indicates that a Rhode Is Red cockerel over an Australorp hen is used to produce Bond Black:

They make excellent backyard chooks and in SE QLD are likely to be available at produce stores either as day old chicks or point of lay pullets.

I think you've got the breed. It makes sense, both girls have few red feathers on chest. Thanks for your help.

I found that the girls have come from Darling Downs hatchery.
