Going well Jose, hope last Saturday heat didn't cause any loses, I lost 10 from 16 blue laced red standard Wyandotte's, just got to hot in brooder shed and wasn't home most of the day. If was home could have moved them earlier.

sorry for your lost . very hard to do any thing when you not around .

I did not any chooks that Saturday ,but last Saturday I lost 7 breeders hens and 3 no breeders roosters .did not lose any young ones , they have a lot of space and it is easier to keep them cool .

this is the worst year I have seen in this country . a lot of lost in Human ,Land ,property .animals .forest .etc.........hope the land and peoples will heal fast .

group #1/#2 are big now 17/14 weeks of age , the third selection is done, I have so many so culling is very strict , only the ones without any faults are kept .the rest will go after I fatten them up .
from 35 cockerels selected in the first round only 13 are kept . 1 more selection in 2 months time @ the age of 6 months .

it is easier to produce 1000 chicks but it very very hard to produce a hand full of faultless chicks .I m looking for a specific marans chooks ,the one that comply to the French Standard .without any fault .

Wow so many chickens!! Have you considered growing mealworms or crickets to supplement their feed to save you money? It’s pretty easy and cheap too crickets just eat food scraps and mealworms eat oats and scraps too.
