yesterday we selected 14 cockerels all marans from Group #2 are keeper the other 44 we processed for us to us and for the dogs too .
they are penned far from the pullets with a older cockerel from Avgen line .

now I have 52 pullets from group#1/#2 running around .they need to be penned in the orchid. some of them start laying other are POL . happy man hard work start pay off . hopefully some off them will lay some dark egg .
I m happy with they body type and marking but they need to lay dark eggs other wise they are just pretty chooks NOT MARANS .

last night separated group#3 cockerels from pullets .they are penned in separate pen .they will be locked in for a few days tell they get used to it before I let them go outside to they run .
27 pullets and 33 cockerels . chunky and colorful .

so now I have 3 cockerels pens . group #1 and #2 I made my selection and processed the rest . I will do my selection for group 3 next few 2/3 weeks .

still more pens and coops to build .

those are my last group #6 my precious marans . they are from Liza s dark eggs layer Blue and Black copper marans X to Avgen Blue and Black copper roosters .they are the most large and correct looking marans I ever had .exactly like what we used have home in Spain in the 70th . big .long ,wide and chunky ,well feathered .
This weekend I will move them to they free ranging pen . I kept them in they nursery too long 16 weeks .I did not want any thing bad to happen to them .they are special .my future breeders stock .
looking forward to see them outside running in the grass with a lot of space and sun shine .they really need it .
I will post some photos of them after the weekend .

Dominant white { single and double copies }
Black tail buff .
Blue tail buff

Cream Legbar . and Cryle Legbar .
Marans rooster X CLB hens = OE they are gorgeous looking chooks

now what I have to do is to breed them properly .group them into families and fix the faults they have .make sure only dark eggs layer as going to breed . very important

yes my friend .they are thriving . looking forward to the spring so I can breed from them ,a lot to select from ,only keeping the best of the best .
did not great luck with a Birchen line this time ,too small and wrong body type long /thin .got ready of them all except 4 or 5 just for a look .
have a great dark cuckoos cockerels to restart a new lines .will take me 4/5 years .Silver is very hard to breed it pure .
