over colored BLC pullet . she has too much copper on her .SOP call for chest free from any copper ,just a complete hackle marking .
rooster is different story SOP call for a presence of some copper flake on the chest or free from any copper .
Black copper Rooster with a black chest should be bred to hens with a complete hackle marking other wise he will produce black pullets.
Black copper rooster with copper flaking on his chest should be bred to hen with incomplete hackle marking ,hens with just a little copper .

we need to balance the pairing to produce correct future generations .

thank you .
I m well happy with them all .after I have finished with all the culls and the sick .I left with a gorgeous healthy large flock of marans .well bred . all with they own Pedigree .no luck of chances .
my Great Thanks to Liza s and Philips with they help to get me restarted .
from Liza s got the dark eggs genes and Avgen pure Black copper variety .
from Philips I got the body type and a refine conformation .

my job now is to blend them all and come up with some stunning line bred varieties .
Healthy ,happy marans .

this Black copper cockerel is a blend of Liza s and Philips line . he has a type and dark egg genes { hope .he has to be tested } now he will be penned with pullets from Avgen line X Liza s . blend of all the 3 lines .

Enjoy .because it is just getting better .

Going to be an exciting season coming up for you Jose. So many good quality breeders to use now. Certainly enjoying the Marans journey, and also the olive egg project.

The cockerel on the left of the last photo, what colour/variety would he be called?

cockerel on the left is Blue Tail Buff marans . it is the variety I m trying to breed the Red Marans from it because the Buff and the Red are fused together in one variety . it is a reason Black Tail Buff marans are not stable , throwing many different shade of red/buff .
I m trying to separate the 2 ,same thing they did when the US breeders split the Red Hampshire from RIR .

have few dark red cockerels hatched this time and few pullets .
