Talking about genetics.
Here are a couple from my fruit area.
On the left is a little one that we hatched from 2 pekin araucana x parents.
The parents were purchased. I saw their father who is lemon cuckoo colour and the mother is a blue araucana. Both parents of this dark buff were black. When a chick, the Down was grey so assume she carrries gene for blue.

The one on the right is hatched from purchased eggs. Her father is also the same lemon cuckoo pekin. No idea about her mother. Down was yellow. So this one's father is also the grandfather of the other.

Question: what factors account for the huge difference in expression of buff colour? Has the blue genes from grandmother of left one affected this?
Some other thing??
