clubnug, at the moment all my henny fowl are heterozygous for the henny allele, that is they all have only one 'dose' of henny and the expression of the gene is variable. You must have a well-established line that is homozygous for the henny allele, i.e. two 'doses'. My strain is only a couple of generations old and is the result of crossing henny and cock-feathered strains. This year I hope to breed some full henny stags.

Surely you've seen a fowl with a full crop before?

Wow! Is that what a full crop looks like in a hard feather? I have all soft feathers, and they're fat as butter as well so you can't see the crop at all. I always imagined it would be more clearly defined as a circle in a hard feather. My girls crops feel quite spherical when they're full.

Sorry for the ignorance! Still learning!

:-P

No cards ofr the hennies but their cock-feathered brothers did well.

It was really hard to take pics there for a few reasons. My preferred lens was kaput so I had a problem with light and wires. Maybe people will still like to see them anyway.
