Pullet breeders are based on e+ and cockerel breeders on eb I believe. So the pattern us a little different. Both the roosters and hens on eb are redder in colour.

Where your young ones breed from cockerel breeders or pullet breeders? What ever the parents are so will be the young.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't see the parent stock up close and these are from eggs purchased. My young are about 14 weeks old and the hen doesn't seem to have red in her colour, breast is light brown, but both cockerals are different 1 has a darker orange red head and neck and deeper and more red on its back, and its breast has some dark brown feathers in with the black whilst the other cockerel has a light orange brown head and light brown neck like the hen and a lighter and less red on its back and its breast is all black, thanks Mycoola.

The pullet sounds like a pullet breeder line but given there is so much difference in the roosters - is there a chance they are not pure Brown Leghorn? Or maybe at some stage pullet breeding and cockerel breeding strains have been crossed?

Andrew, where the eggs came from he does show them, so they are pure. The difference between them is not major but subtle and you can only see it up close. When they were chicks one had a darker back and head stripe. When they are mature does pb cockerals have a lighter colour orange hackle whilst the cb cockerel have a darker orange hackle and saddle or is the difference in another way. Thanks Mycoola.

Generally the darker chicks at hatching are the cockerel breeders. Maybe he has both lines and put some of each in?

Once you get your eye in the difference is quite obvious.
