here some photos of the egg I m collecting from the marans pullets pen. more of them are laying each day and the egg colour is great .
most of this dark egg come from the my cuckoo strain I have been working on and developing since 2014.

well pleased .I have the body type and now I have the egg color .what left to do is to now is to select for the great comb and breding out any parasitic white .

my second selected dark cuckoo marans ,sired by Shamrock over Burwood .he is build like a tank .low to the ground ( short feet ,great asset to balance this tall strain .)

now I have 2 of them both brothers and are F2

the older one has a better comb and a little smaller ( still big compare to others ) I name him WoodRock .

the one in this photos is the youngest one .super large and have a worst comb ( I can fix that )

they sisters and half sisters are the one laying the darkest egg . So this cockerels are an asset to me .and to the marans breed .as well

cheers

here some photos of the Blue golden and Silver cuckoo I start developing this year . long way to go .but I m having great result .a lot of hybrid vigor because the parent stock are not related at all .

this cockerel is S/s .B/b+ mean he is half way between the Gold and the Silver .he carries one copy of each . Dark cuckoo mean he only have one copy of the barring gene . B .
he is a huge big type .super solid with a great long flat back and good tail ( Angle and form )

he is a son of Charlie ( pure Silver cuckoo ) over Bella ( Blue copper hen ) he is and F1
the second one is his brother . better blue but smaller .

cheers

I m going to use them over the Birchen hens too to start a Blue birchen and strengthen a dark egg gene .
