Well thankyou Jose for swapping him with the hen. It was very nice to meet up with you and see all your beautiful chickens and how well you look after them. It would be very nice to have some pullet chicks of yours in the future. The pullet is settling in and looks healthy and happy so does the cockerel. Best of luck with all your chickens.

Jose the roo is going well, we have named him peire.hope the spelling is correct. He is scared even of the silkie roos which is funny. Haven't heard him crow much which is a great thing. The other day he was near the big red cross marans hen, she is way bigger then him, then agian she is way bigger then all the rest of the chooks.will be good to hatch some of her eggs once there fertile.

Looked it up , yes spelt wrong, Pierre, French for Peter, that's he's name.
He's going great, getting used to having a large harem, likes to free range with them.

Pere is French for 'father' so would still have been good. He could be Pere Pierre.

Hopefully Pierre will be pere  . In the meantime i have some nice silver laced pullets growing from slw cross barnie. They hatched from the darkest barnie eggs so will be interesting to see if they still lay a brown egg or whether the slw roo will lighten them to just tinted. I will hatch eggs from Pierre over the maran crosses and the dlg barnies, possibly too from the Araucana hens to see if i get a dark green/ olive egg.
