Hi Guys,

I am a newbie to the Pekin world and still learning about them. I have just purchased 3 mealy grey 1st year hens and I am wanting to put a Rooster over them. Just not sure what colour would give me what. Can any one recommend whether I should go Birchen, Mealy Grey or anything else?

Cheers Donna

I figure if you want to breed more Mealy Grey then you need that sort of rooster.

Looking at them I'd say they are silver (S) based and Birchen(ER) and have the pattern gene (Pg). They'll have more than that in their genetics but if for example you couldn't find a suitable Mealy, then a silver Birchen might be the next best thing.
