Hi there, I am thinking of breeding some Rir x Light Sussex, so that I could sex them at day olds. Wondering if many people on here do this and Wether the young hens that hatch turn out good pullets, or is it best to avoid breeding these?

They'll be lovely big hens and will probably lay about 10% more eggs in a year than either parent breed. Being a hybrid of heritage breed they won't lay as well as an ISA in the first year but should have a much longer productive life.
