3 of these girls out of the Lav pen
I know nothing about the lav variations. The contrast is much stronger in different light.

Isabel is some kind of gold diluted with lavender. So yes!

Thanks they took me by surprise. I knew there was some red in the blues, no idea how gold was hiding in the lavs - (blacks? whites?)
Next question - Is Isabel considered Lavender (eg for showing) or is it a completely separate colour?

Hmmm, the lavender purists won't like the pink tones. I don't know really.

That's what I thought.
Had a good look at the lav rooster - what I had assumed was brassiness may be gold. Pity, a couple of the girls are nice type, guess I will breed from the best and try to remove the gold.
If the black rooster is carrying lav would he be better to use than the lav boy? (or even bb X lav=f1)

Have started to re read the genetics stuff. Some things are starting to make more sense now that I can put them into real context and the Araucanas are certainly offering this opportunity.

Thanks for your help so far andrewschooks
