Several years ago a team based in Europe that comprised primarily of genetic scientists and zooarchaeologists, archaeologists and historians began the first extensive research into European chickens. I supplied them with historical literature relating to the subject. And later on I also arraigned for feather samples to be supplied for DNA testing but the full results of are not in yet.

Any bird that contains the BCDO2 gene for yellow legs is not a pure Red Junglefowl. And any bird the contains THSR sweep is not a pure Red Junglefowl.

Some of the results of their work are to be found here : http://www.pnas.org/content/111/17/6184.full.pdf

Any questions feel free to ask.

Eddie

That is interesting. What about Green legs, as they are made up from a yellow base.
