Hi Jose,
They are all looking extremely healthy, there is a lot to be said for chicks being hatched and raised by broody hens, in my opinion they get going a lot quicker and thrive better. In the photos there looks to be a few Transylvanian Naked Neck chicks?

agree with you ,mama hens are superior ,plus they do all the work .
Naked neck chicks are a cross between NN rooster and a F1 hybrid { Marans X CBL } pullets . I m working on anew strain of chooks . I m blending the best traits from Marans ,CLB and NN to make a more hardy chooks ,they will be able to stand a head ,lay large colorful eggs .

more chicks hatched this week .I have been away so I haven t seen them yet .
all good

hope you guys are doing ok safe from the flood .
the farm and animal all fine only lost one chick ,
all chicks are fine and growing fast under they mamas eyes . hens doing great job .I never will be able to do that in a million years .
run out of broody hens .so we filled last 2 x 49 eggs incubator last night . breeding season is officially ended .separated the roosters from the hens .hens are back with a big flock in big shed ,well sheltered from the element .they stopped laying except few . all molting very heavy .
the molting hens diet is Showbird breeders pallets ,they can eat as much as they please plus 20 g black sun flower seed by hen .
roosters diet is 60% wheat and 40% showbirds breeders pallets ,feeders full all time plus 20g of black sun flower seed by rooster .
we are giving them Cod live oil in they drinking water .
all healthy but looking horrible .
chicks are the stars of the farm now .

I m really happy with Khabib and his hens .they progeny is the best I have seen since I started marans breeding 2014. this progeny is my first back cross . origin of the line . Khabib is from Liza s Blue hens inbred to they sibling Splash rooster . same hens crossed to Avgen Blue copper rooster to produce a splash copper hens I m working with now . they are 50% Liza s Blue and 50% Avgen .
they progeny with Khabib are 75% Liza s Blue and 25% Avgen .
dark eggs traits come from Liza s line .
Big correct marans type plus early feathering type and small combs come from Avgen line .
F2 look more bigger they pure avgen at same age .plus they carry 75% of dark eggs genes .let see how they grow .
if I m happy with F2 when they are fully grown I will mate them to pure Avgen Black copper rooster I have big bird .they progeny will 60% Avgen and 40 % Liza s Blue .they will be Blue copper .

Good to know all is well after the big rains. Interested in the mention of Cod Liver Oil - what is the reason, and what quantity to a litre of water do you use? It does have some good benefits with sheep, never thought of it for poultry.

I use Cod liver oil for the micro nutrient { trace element } .good for them when molting and during the winter time ,I give them black sun flower too ,any thing oily to help them to build new heathy feathers without any parasitic damage .
I use 1 ml by 1 litter of water .
