Seems there is only a small difference between Golden Cuckoo and Crele?
Do you think a cross of 'pink' egg and brown egg will make produce a darker pink?
What might be the potential outcome of blue x pink?
Too many breeding combinations to be undertaken!

Great colour.
If you breed these, how will you select the rooster to breed with?
Will this girl be bred with multiple candidates over the season? How many chicks do you think you will need to hatch from each? (Sorry..... Back to my planning comments from before.....)

If the pink is in the shell as Jose says, i think breeding with marans will cause overlay of the marans brown egg colour onto the pink. Both colours will influence the final egg.
Jose would you agree?
Blue-pink mixture would depend on the dominance of each gene. No idea about the outcome

the Blue egg color is true blue gene and it is dominant .the idea is .if you cross the blue egg layer to pink egg layer ,the F1 will be mixture of light blue and green egg and any thing in between . the lighter blue egg pullets from F1 will be crossed back to pink layer to produce F2 . a lot pullets will lay pink . because the Blue is pure and dominant you can breed it out and you will be left with good pink egg color .
if you cross the pink layer to darker brown egg layer like marans than you will darken the egg color ..

Back crossing is a best and a proven way to reinforce any gene ,even the recessive ones .
back cross the pink egg layer hens to they sons/grand son etc .........

that what I m going to be doing with a my pink egg layer the white hens . I ll cross them to the F1 to add more body color pattern and more genes { widen up the line } than select the best cockerel and start back crossing .selecting for pink egg and Blue eggs plus al the color pattern I m after .

out crossing will make you loose the desired trait some time .
Back crossing will reinforce the desired traits .

This was the pinkest egg laid last year from my 'pinkish' layers, can't be certain which one.
All the pink egg hens will be with the 'Redbar' roo who hatched from a pink egg. His sons will go back over the pinkest egg mothers and aunts, then grandson back to pinkest egg first and second generation pinkest eggs in the hope that the pink egg 'genes' can be 'fixed'.

Yes - the green are crosses of my blue egg and Marans

where the marans rooster or hen ?[/quote]
All my recent 'olive egg' crosses have been from 'blue egg' roo x Marans.

Jose - just found an old pic of the original 'Redbar' roo, sire of the barred pair posted earlier.
I believe he was a Rhode Island Red X Barred Orpington.

Have you started hatching Jose, or are these eggs just getting sold for eating. When you put a Marans rooster from dark egg over a pink egg is the colour of egg plum.

next step is to work with them in 3 separate ways .
First = best F1 pullets X F1 cockerels = true F2 .

Second = Blue eggs layer pullets will be bred back to CLB rooster no related to them to reinforce the Blue eggs gene and breed a true Blue egg layer all sort of body colours .
F1 cockerels will be X to White marans hens { those hens are not true marans ,they lay pink eggs ,but they are large and heavy ,good layer .} .this crossing is to introduce the white feather gene .

Third = F1 Green egg layer pullets will be X to marans roosters from dark egg laying line . this crossing is to try to produce dark colored eggs .
F2 cockerels will be X to marans hens dark eggs layer .

I like those chooks a lot especially the yellow ones .big strong and good looking chooks
