Hi

I have two very young leghorn x (leghorn x sussex) cockerals. I'm quite happy to do the deed but not sure what age to kill them at. I'm thinking more as spatchcock rather than big chook as I don't think they would be worth growing out for too long anyway.

Cheers

Kerrie

hi Kerrie

we did an Indian cockral at the age of 5 months. He was a bit tough but was great in soup and stew.

Cheers

As long as they are well fed and developing well we normally do ours at approx three months, especially if we are looking for roasting birds, anything over four and generally they are for soups, stews and for making home made chicken stock.
