Just watching that episode now. It's great to see the use of heritage breeds on the show.

Watched the replay today, quite enjoying the series so far and especially today with the glimpses of the silver laced wyandottes. Loved how he cooked the birds- will have to try that one with some of my home grown fellas.......come growing season :-D

Ahhhhh, :doh :( . That's why I haven't got anything interesting to watch, I have normal free to air stuff. Thanks for telling me, I would be searching to timetables all week.

Just seen the chook legs in the dish. The OH said that nothing like that was ever going into a saucepan in this house. She reckons there must still be chook poo and dirt in the scales. I can remember seeing the chook feet sticking out of the saucepans in mum's kitchen at home. We always reared and cooked our own birds. I was never one for the offel.

  great mental image of a saucepan on the stove, bubblling away, feet poking out the top and everyone deciding that maybe lentil burgers might go down better :bg

I've just watched that episode - does anyone know what the little latch contraption was that they broke the chooks necks with or how I (or the man of the house) could make one? That seems a lot more simple/stress free for the bird than our 2 nails in a block of wood and elastic band then the axe.

My exact reaction. I had to rewind and check a few times. There was definitely chook poo in his dinner.
