Hi all!
I thought I'd share my vegetable garden with you. It's very new and we're in the process of creating hoop houses over the top of the beds for shade in summer and warmth in winter.
The garden is on bore water and I needed to add a small 12 volt pump to the mix to get enough pressure but I had everything except the pump and pressure regulator lying around.
We knocked up the little shelter today to protect the electrics from tomorrow's storm.
Carrots, parsnips, lettuce, Asian greens, beetroot, spring onions and leek are going in the second bed this weekend.
The shaded area is currently full of strawberries, asparagus and various herbs that are all thriving.

Looking good! I like your little pump house :) I'm sure it'll be a very productive enterprise.

Planted out all the seeds today in the middle bed and covered the hills with shade cloth.
We will set up a timer on the weekend to run the micro sprayers for 5 or 10 minutes every couple of hours to keep the surface wet whilst they germinate.
Definitely going to be a lot of trial and error as we are very new to gardening but it should be fun and rewarding!
On a sad note, I came home to one of my 1 month old chicks dead in the coop. It was fine this morning and all of the others are fine. Nothing can get into their little box and it was my only light Sussex :-(

Sorry about your little chick :( That was a very sad thing to discover.

Hope all your other chicks and your new plantings thrive.

Thank-you Rach, they all seem fine this morning. Hopefully an isolated issue.

Second shade house is all set up. We must be doing something right because the seeds we planted a couple of days ago have started to germinate. I think these ones are roquette.

We have the drippers set up and turn them on most days but I also have half a dozen micro sprayers on the seed bed that are on a timer to come on for a few minutes every 2 hours during the day to keep the top moist until they germinate properly.

Looks great. Your raised beds are a good wqy to go on sandy soils. If you are unfamiliar with 'Lasagne Gardening' do some research on Dr G.

The only prolific part of my vege garden this year is producing weeds
