I have 2 (hopefull) pairs of embden geese.

I have 1 pair in their permanent housing (at another location) and 1 pair running around my backyard. They have been seperated with their partners for about 3 days, today i saw the pair at home mating.

How soon can i put this pair out with the 2nd pair without them fighting over the other females?

Hope that made sense...

Any ideas would be great

Usually when i have multiple ganders and geese going in the one area, i start them off from day one with each other. Usually the ganders will sort out whos female is whos and they are happy. Thats what i find works best otherwise the gander gets to know the whole area as his territory and any new geese that come in are his, any new ganders are a threat.

I hope this makes sense, please note this is the way i work, and there are bound to be people who disagree.

Honk

That makes sense. It happens with roosters aswell...

I will try and add the new pair in, the gander in the new pair is abit bigger, so i dont think that will be too much of a worry.

If there are any troubles i will seperate them both to a new area and then add them to the same area together.

How long do you think i should leave it before i introduce the new pair?
