Hi,
you may have seen my other post re the scaly leg mites in my chooks. It's a constant battle to get rid of them in chooks and I want to get geese soon. Question is...do geese get scaly leg mite? and if no, why not?
When I get my geese they wont be kept anywhere near my chooks but may ocasionally mingle, so thought I'd ask anyway just to make sure.
Also, when is geese breeding time?
Thanks
Hopefully soon to be owner of many geese
Teela

Teela,

I have both and the geese dont seem to get it.

I think it is because they swim a lot, which would wash the mites off before they get secure and also, the mites are generally spread on perches which geese dont do.

ToH would probably know better, but that is my guesses :)

Nope waterfowl are immune to scaley leg mites. Great isn't it!

depending where you are, breeding season is soon, my geese are now pairing up, so I will be putting them into their breeding areas soon.
