There is a good book, available called raising the home duck flock, by Dave Holderead. It ha a lot of information in it that may help.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if it is usual for a Pekin duckling to start making a kind of honking noise similair to what swans make, at age 2 weeks? My eldest, Sunny, 2 weeks on Thurs, has been making this noise now for the past week, it is getting louder. The others are younger by up to 4 days but they havent shown any sign of it. Sunny is much bigger and lighter in colour that the others too. Thanks, Wendy.

Do male muscovy ducklings have a more obvious red marking on their bill than the females? Also, at what age do ducklings mature, ie. get their curly tail or start laying?

 Those soundtracks started off my ducks!

Not just in the courting period - Mallard females can be noisy whenever they want some attention...
