Included in Membership is: Insurance, Concessions on Entry Fees for Members exhibiting and Newsletters.

Two shows organised to date.

First one: Young Bird Show to be held in May at Brookfield
and the second one, our inaugural, annual show at Caboolture in June.

Elected to President is: Charlie Green
Elected to Vice President is: Tony Stallwood
Elected to Secretary is: Gloria Evans
and elected to Treasurer (and general dogs' body) is me: Glenys Passier

Because I am the only one with a computer it has fallen on me to look after any new members or any queries you may want answered. I will be most happy to and look forward to receiving any comments at all.
Have a look at the website. It's still under construction, so there's plenty more to add.

Hi Mick,

Yes. SEQWA will be holding meetings. Dates yet to be decided.
The venues will alternate between the northside (Burpengary, Narangba area) and the southside (Chapel Hill, Ipswich ares) at this stage.

I will keep you informed with dates and venues when they are confirmed.

Thank you.

Glennie

Hi Glennie - best wishes for the success of the new club! :D

I am relatively new to duck-keeping - have some Mallards from Britta and Jon (goose123man) whom I believe is almost your neighbour :D and now some young Dark Campbells from Kirribindi Farm eggs :D I'm in suburbia with city council-limited numbers of 6 (adult) poultry and some provision, at a cost, and guidelines not yet investigated, for permits to keep more.

I could get more interested in ducks but not sure if I would ever want to show. I would, however, like to get access to Breed Standards and meet people knowledgeable about ducks :) . This leads me to who is the new club for? And, what is its relationship to Waterfowl Fanciers Association of Queensland Inc, who are listed in Australasian Poultry magazine? I have been meaning to contact them but, find their not having a web presence or even an email contact that I know of, to be a disadvantage. Would someone, in my beginners position, maybe have a place or is the club mainly for established breeders?

Hi Cackles,

Good to hear from you. I can't believe some of the restrictions councils put on poultry keepers.

The new club is open to anyone who cares to join. Hobbyist, Breeder, Pet Owner. Anyone with an interest in ducks. SEQWA is not affilliated with Waterfowl Fanciers of Queensland.

Cackles, I am very new to the "duck world" myself. I have had back yard ducks for many years but only recently decided to go that step further. We're all still learning!

Regards,

Glennie

Well, I did join but was unable to get to Brookfield show yesterday.

There are some lovely photos now on our website - no captions as yet and there will be a newsletter soon. In the meantime enjoy the pictures! :D

Hi all,

Well I did get to the Brookfield Show and yes there were some great birds there. I hope to get CD of pictures today and post some of the winning birds here. 120 entries.

The morning of the show was bone chilling cold and the wind was whipping the dust around the Poultry Pavillion something dreadful. The majority of the birds and their exhibitors settled in for the day.

The Brookfield Show is known as the "Biggest Little Show in the Country".
Litterally, thousands of people would have visited the Pavillion and saw the ducks and geese. There was a "petting/patting" tufted roman goose that kids (and adults) were able to touch, talk to, admire. What a hit!

A good day in all.

Glennie

Hi all waterfowl breeders
The Toowoomba Poultry Club Inc is holding its Twilight Novice show on 25 April 2009 and its Club Show on 31 May 2009 and included are waterfowl sections.
The Club Show is incorporating an American Breed Feature, so I invite any breeders to exhibit at these shows.

Hi,

I have just seen this post and didn't know it existed. I live in the southern suburbs of Brisbane and was wondering if anyone in your club breeds pure bantom saxony ducks.

Thanks,
