Hi all, My ducks will be ready to lay soon and I was just wondering if they are like chickens and want the whole world to know that they have laid. As it is my ducks quack loudy at first light in the morning to be fed and I have to rush out and feed them so that my grumpy neighbour doesn't complain.

My (proably) Campbell girls quack a lot - but never when laying. I think ducks might keep it quiet to avoid attracting predators.

I have not had a duck quack whilst laying, they quack all the time though. Often when they are on the nest laying they are extreemly quiet, if you walk past they will do their best to hide from you. As someone else said i think they prefere not to attract attention.
