Hi y'all,

Will there be any health dangers to my ducks from a septic system?

I have just installed a trench septic system in the backyard of my new place and now have great concerns about my ducks nosing about the area, as it's the only grassed area left.

Any experience or thoughts there?

Ta. Rhoni

We have never had any problem with any of our animals and the septic system. Ducks think it is fab, have also had chooks, cows, goat and dogs on it and no problems as yet.

if the transpiration trench is working efficiently there should be no surface ponding of effluent run-off at all.

Grass growth on the trench system will draw nutrients from below and will simply be lush green grass that the ducks will appreciate, keep short and thrive on.

Every place i lived at had soak aways, 2 places they failed and bogged up but still the ducks were fine. I just hosed them down.

We just had our septic trenches re done, 2 x 10m trenches and its all diirt now lol.
