Hi,

What might be the problem here? We have a brown Chinese gander who has fathered some goslings, and all seemed to be OK, however, we now notice him shoving his 2 day old gosling around.

I haven't noticed this behaviour with the other ganders, on the contrary, they have always been very protective.

This gander is not yet 12 months old, so I'm wondering if it's an immaturity problem.

We have separated him from the goose and goslings, but why has this happened?

My partner thinks he might be jealous, is this a possibility?

I on rare occasions have this happens and it settles down in a day or tow.

If her is bonded to the goose it wont be a good idea to move him too far away as he will fret.

I would try introducing him at the end of the day and see how he goes again, they need to establish that they are the dominant bird - and not the goslings. Once they have done this - its all systems go.

However there will be exceptions to the rule and he may just not like having kids.

Good luck

Honk

Thanks Honk, I'll give your suggestion a go.
