Wow! That's amazing! I saw the pictures pop-up in the gallery and was waiting for a post!

She doesn't waddle away from you? Do you take her to lots of things like that? How come she's so tame?
She's gorgeous.

:-D

she is a he  curly tail feathers fell out/broke off last week
shadow is a house pet, goes on many day trips all over the place, gets lots of attention.
stays very close to his mum(Bianca), if she's not around he'll hang with me.
never wonders off..
hatched in Bianca's hand and has been raised as a pet ever since, daily interaction keeps the bond..

tiled floors through out house, but we've worked out a feeding solution that limits any waste while cruizing around the house.
he was the last one hatched for the 2012 season,,plenty of other ducks hear for him to play with but as yet shows no interest in them, will come down to the pens at feeding time but he makes sure hes back out the gate and heading for the house before i lock up of an afternoon.

Super duck! That's just brilliant

You'll have a great collection of pics of him doing stuff - in addition to his chilling at the bar with you and red wine and fire with Bianca!

No mention of Shadow's duck mankini though? :-D

Shadow is amazing! Does he try to drink the salt water at the beach? I bet he attracts a lot of attention when you take him for a day out! I think I have the wrong sort of duck!

Wonder what Shadow thinks of the taste of salt water?

Very endearing photos.

Shadow had a bit of a dabble in the salt water didn't seem to phased by it. Much preferred his fresh water in the white water bowl in one of the pics.

Yes he does attract alot of attention and is great for conversation and the promotion of waterfowl. :bg
Previously the only ducks that we had that were able to be tamed were Muscovys, this breed seems to make a reasonable pet with very little input. we had tried to tame mallard related breeds without much success but these attempts were with groups of ducklings. At some point they mature and prefer the company of their own kind and only acknowledge us if we have food. This time round was a one bird scenario and we got more of a pet then we could have hoped for.
