first season hatching mallards and I have had two types of feathering come out solid brown and lacing going down the whole feather. Is the lacing down the whole wing a showing fault? And why I'm getting ducks with this kind of lacing so far down?
Thanks Kim

Can you post photos of the parents? How old are the juveniles? You should be able to tell the genders from about 5 weeks onward by their voice. Photos showing chests and head detail as well as overall type plus an opened wing may also be useful for evaluating individuals against the standard.
