Hey everyone. I live in Scenic Rim council and I have 3 hens. I’m aware that I’m allowed to have 6 chooks on my property. I can’t find any local laws on keeping any other birds. I want a pair of muscovys as well. Does anyone know if:
- I can incl a pair of ducks in my total of 6 and if so,
- Can I include a male?

(So that would be 3 hens, and a pair of ducks).

Thoughts pls?

Thanks

BirdMama

You could call the council, to be on the safe side. I can’t see why they’d say no though, if you’re within your 6 bird allowance. I hope you end up getting the ducks - they’re lovely to have around :)

The regulations against roosters tend to be about their noise. Male ducks are quieter than females so I wouldn't ask that part of the question.

The regulations around here are 6 poultry - and in that only one duck. So ask carefully!

One duck? How cruel. Ducks need at least one other duck.

Muscovies are so quiet the neighbours wouldn’t even know they were there.

Let us know how you get on :)

Don't ask - just do!

Councils only act on complaint - and then only with very solid proof.
