I have the chance to get another little boy, but the person doesn't know the sex of her babies (about 3 months) Can anyone tell me how to safely sex them. Perhaps there is a diagram on the net or something. Phalara

Copied from serxing ducks thread -

ok - here goes, t is hard to describe.

1. Pick up a duckling/gosling and turn upside down
2. Place a finger in the 'hinge' where the tail bends, this is to make a hard flat surface for you to GENTLY apply preasure to.
3. using your thumbs, gently peel back the rear end - emphasis on peeling rather than pushing, gentle pushing is ok.
4.you may find that the bird will poo, you will need to wipe this away so you can see properly, i is easier to peel when it is dry.
5. when you have peeled as far as you can possibly peel, if it is a drake a small line (penis) will appear, when i say small we are talking a few mls.
6. a duck will be very pink with no small line.
7. allow the skin to go back in place, turn bub right way up and you are all done.

Thanks Honk, I'll let you know how I go. I wish it was as easy as cows and horses. I'm used to them. Phalara
