Hi, I'm new to this forum and poultry and waterfowl in general. I have always wanted geese. I have a small property so would only want one or two. Are 2 males or 2 females better? I dont have a pen for them so they would free range around my place, is this suitable?

I'm in Tassie, so we dont have the fox problem and I dont have stray dogs wandering onto my property. I have two roosters who turned up (I think they were dumped) and they potter about as they like. Do they get along with geese?

With geese, always get pairs if you can, so you are doing the right thing there. My gander gets on well with the chooks, however he does rule the roost so the roosters tend to keep out of their way.

Thanks J. How noisy are they? I have a couple of neighbours close, so would like to 'try' and be considerate.

Having no suitable area to pen them, is it better to get older birds?
