hi all i just wanted to share.
Myblack RSPCA duck is broody and is sitting on 7 duck eggs i hope they are fertile as the drake has only been here for a week. :?
Her white friend is close behind but im going to buy in some eggs to make sure we get a good hatch.

Question.. can a duck hatch chook eggs? i know they sit for longer but if you removed them just before pipping?

Cheers Happyhenz

They can, but they are a bit clumsy, If the shells of the chook eggs are good and strong you should be right. :)

hmm depends on what size the duck is I reckon..if it's a big duck like a muscovy or swedish..they could easily crush chook eggs. Next time you get a chook and duck egg together..see which is the easier to crack. Also you'd have to make extra sure you got the chickens out as soon as they hatch or the ducks could take the chickens for a 'swim'.
