The Canberra Queanbeyan Poultry Club has just added another profile to its Masters of Poultry series, which is a series of stories and interviews with Master Poultry Breeders.

The latest profile is of Clive Claus. Clive and his wife, Dos, have been incredibly successful breeders and exhibitors over many, many decades. They have kept most of the breeds of fowl (land and water!) available in this country and have made a major contribution to the improvement of many of them.

Thankyou to Clive for taking the time to talk to us and for arranging for photos to be sent for this profile (photos were taken by his daughter Sharon).

You can read the profile here: http://www.cqpoultryclub.com/profile03.htm

We hope you enjoy it.

If you would like to send us any feedback or idea please contact our Publicity Officer, Debbie, at publicity@cqpoultryclub.com

Particularly like his advice to newcomers -
"Read as much as you can. Get poultry journals going back as far as possible. Read about all the finer points of the breed".

Hi macl27 :)

I was talking to Clive about three weeks ago & he still had some copies of his booklet available @ that time. Some info & contact details for anyone interested Here.

I haven't had time to read the profile/s just yet, but am glad that Clive (along with the other masters) is being acknowledged for all the years he has dedicated to the poultry cause. He has been a wonderful friend & mentor.

Thank you Addicted2Chooks & Canberra Queanbeyan Poultry Club for sharing the Master Breeder Profiles.

Hi everyone,

The club has added another profile to its Masters of Poultry series. Pat and Dot Birchall. Below is a snippet:

" Pat and Dot live in Mudgee in NSW. Pat has kept and shown fowls since 1939. Over those years they have won thousands of prizes, many hundreds of these being major awards. Pat has judged at 64 Royal Shows in every Australian capital city.

Pat and Dot have kept many breeds, always with the aim of improving each breed and distributing good quality birds to others. At the last Langshan Club of Australia meeting the members voted to dedicate the 2012 show, to Pat and Dot. "
