Based on traffic lights, colours are awarded as follows:

Green indicates that the exhibit is considered show quality (those that, with good management and preparation, could do well in an exhibition)

Orange indicates breed quality (those that are reasonably true to standard and, with good management, should breed better quality stock

Red indicates garden stock. Birds with one or more faults according to breed standard, but good birds to have in the garden or pets.

Overall Judge's Comments for the Waterfowl:

Overall a nice lot of birds. Most well presented and in good feather. Its hard to judge a bird without getting the feel of it, and results may vary at a physical show. Remember good pics help to ‘sell’ the bird to the judge, if you take a pic too close with a flash it will alter the colours being viewed. Getting the bird to stand is very helpful too. Nice to see some rarer breeds out and about. \

The saxony appeared the best of the bunch, with good colour type and no real detractions from the bird, followed by a nice neat well photographed silver mallard.

Well done too all who entered, thanks for taking the time too take the pics. Good luck with your breeding programs this season.

Congratulations to the winners :) Well done! Absolutely beautiful birds!
Thanks Tribe of Honk for all your feedback. You have done a great job judging. Good on you :)
I just found out a week ago that my Pekins are probably crossed birds. And after looking at a Waterfowl Club site in UK I can see the differences plain as day. Like TOH said - utility :( While this doesnt really phase me as they are gorgeous characters and backyard pets that lay an egg a day and bought for this purpose, this was the first "Show" I have entered & I was a bit embarrassed that I had already put pics of my beautiful young boy in. Im so glad I supported the online show though. It certainly was an experience trying to make my big boy stand still long enough to take a few photos!! We were both quite stressed afterward.
I was a bit disappointed not to see some more in the Waterfowl section, knowing we have a lot of breeders out there in BYPland.
Come on everyone!! We want to see your lovely Mussies, Aylesbury, Mandarins etc. next time!!
Cheers, Wendy:)
