Ok. This is my first go at posting a photo so please be patient with me - just took ages to work out how to resize etc and cameras (and computers) are not my area of expertise! :?

This (hopefully if i have done it all properly) is 'Maisie' who we have worked out is a rooster (given that 'she' has started to practice crowing and mounting the hens!). He hatched from mail ordered welsummer fertile eggs. Is he really a welsummer though? In another thread it was suggested that welsummer hens have red/gold chests and cockerals black. Do we have something else altogether? Apologies - not very good photos I know but hopefully of some use?

Jo , A bit early yet ,he still has some feathering to go . He is reasonable type for Wellie and mature cock should be infact black/red (gold). At the moment looking more New Hampshire. Were there pullets hatched with him?

I would have thought his colour should look better than this. Not looking promising :? Don't think he would be from an exhibition line of welsummers.

Nup - unfortunately he was the only successful hatch - no pullets so we don't have anything to compare him with - makes it a bit tricky.
