Chick 2
The baby of the group, all black and white speckles.

Multicoloured speckles - black, white, brown and grey with red/brown feathering round neck both have grey legs.Image

Close up of multicoloured speckled.

Grey with red/brown feathering round neck.

I seem to have missed one - the last one is similar to final photo, except her feathers are black with the red neck feathering.

Here is ther other pic :) D. I think it may be meant to fit your second description - baby of the group? If you can number the chicks it might be easier for us to say which one we are referring to :) Cackles - mod

Will they develop further colouring as they mature or do they tend to stay the same?
PS How old do you reckon - person I bought from said they are about half grown - not sure how old that it.

no idea of the cross, they do look like they have some game in them'
Colour wise the black with gold lacing is usually called brown red, the blue version being blue red.
I would guess the "multicoloured speckle" is a boy, the brown and blue reds female , cheers pam

These are just guesses.I think the baby speckled one could be a Wyandotte x. The first one could be Araucana x. I really dont have any guesses for the others.

They're at that "ugly" gawky age, which tends to make them about 12-15 weeks and yes, the colours will definitely develop further. Some could even change altogether.

There could be a bit of Rock in them to get the stripes/mottling? And browny hackles with shiny black feathers tends (?) to turn up with Barnies? They also do have that "forward" stance, whereas the greyer ones seem to be standing higher.

Couldn't help with feathers on the legs though!!

No. 1 looks like a Rhode Island/Australorp cross. No.4 looks like a Welsummer/Australorp cross. No. 2 & 3 maybe Auracauna cross ? and No. 5 araucana/Barred Plymouth Rock.

Aurucana - are they a bit flighty? Just black with brown was no. 2 to get out yesterday and flew up and over my head when I was catching her! She also bit me and squaked like blue murder too.

The multicoloured speckle looks like she has some Welsummer in her. (The neck lacing is very similar to my two cross bred Wellie girls)

I have a chicken very similar to the photo of your girl with the red/brown coloured neck and what looks like will be a fan tail. Mine is crossed with an Aracuana and an Aracauna x bantam rooster. She is a bit flighty.. and pardon the language - but one bitchy chicken when she's broody ! She even turns around so she can attack me when i lift the lid ! not sure what else is in mine. but she actually isn't a bad mum and a really good egg layer.
i have a picture of her on my website in my chook gallery http://www.riverbankfarm.webs.com her name is Julia. i have one other that is aracauna x with the bantam/aracauna/? she has white speckles around her face and is all black. If interested, she's also in my chook gallery - her namd is Blanche. she isn't as flighty.. but goes broody a lot.
