It doesn't matter too much as its more for fun but thought i might try some feather sexing since the chicks are 3 days old. Can you feather sex with any breed? these are light sussex.

First time feather sexing for me.

1. chick one is my dark yellow chick and her wings are huge compared to the others. guessing girl?

2. this is white chick. This one has me confused. i thought boy at first but now i think girl.

3. this is chick with orange legs. you can't see the secondary feathers but there is a row of very short feathers when i look under the wing. sorry for the poor quality. this ones a real wiggler.

4. And finally this girl(pale legs). i'm pretty sure girl by the feathers.

That's my guess anyway. I had a look at some chicks today, and I was a bit iffy about them, but then I came across one that had a definite double row.

There is a few great videos on You Tube.

Hi Inkdog,
Are you able to give us an update on how they have developed?
My light sussex are 3 days old today and already I am thinking 3 of each based on your pics.
Thanks!
