I bought 3 brown leghorn eggs to have as layers from a local breeder to pop under a broody and two hatched. This chick and one white chick (which hatched much later than this one and unfortunately died within 3 hours). Both obviously not brown leghorn :?

I have a sinking suspicion this one is a boy due to lack of body feathering and no tail at four weeks. I've never had Plymouth Rock before (presuming that's what he is) but I've been doing some reading and there would be a definite tail and body feathers by now.

Does anyone else think he's going to be a boy? I had hoped for one leghorn female from 3 eggs so its a perfect ending really (not) LOL

Quite a noticeable comb, and appear to be very thick legs, so most likely a boy,

Ron
