I bought these chickies as eggs for my broody hen and they were sold to me as salmon faverolles. Now that they are 5 weeks of age and have started developing im not so sure they are all salmon favs. 2/4 have different feather colouring and their combs appear to be developing as pea combs ( unlike the other 2 who have single combs). Any thoughts on what these guys could be? are they salmon favs x or possibly something completely different. Would also love it if you could take a guess at the sex too (although it may still be too early to tell!)

Salmon favs boy and girl?

Salman favs are dimorpheous. Boys are not the same colour as the girls so the top pics look like a pair of salmon favs. Both look white legged and five toed. The black feathered one is a boy.

The buff coloured chick also looks like it is white legged and 5 toed so there is fav in there. It could be a buff but will have to wait and see. The comb though is wrong but it appears to be getting a beard. It looks like a pullet.

The other chick is yellow legged and cant see the toes. My guess is wyandotte and might explain the buff chicks heritage if all came from the same person. Also it looks boyish.

Two in first photo look like Salmon Favs. As mentioned - dark one male, the other female.

Have no idea on the other two. Definitely not Salmon Fav though!

Thanks for your comments guys!

They all have 5 toes however the last 2 chicks do not have toes that are as prominent as the first two
The salmon favs have also got more leg feathering than the mystery two.

Very odd indeed - I wonder who the randy rooster was

Ok well it looks like a gold laced wyandotte may have got into the salmon favs pen around breeding time which would explain the odd chicks!

I have just noticed today that the mystery two have started to develop some lovely lacing on their chests and some salmon fav bearding :bounce:

I think I shall keep these two a little longer to see how they turn out :D
