Hi Guys
First incubator try out and have now ended up with 5 light sussex chicks.
I keep changing my mind as to sex but I think maybe 3 pullets and 2 cockerels.
3 feathered up quickly but one of them is larger and bigger comb development than the others so not sure now.
Looking forward to see how they develop as they grow
A bit of fun to guess though!

? cockerel in front
I had to resize +++ to get them to fit so quality may be lost a bit. Sorry
Thanks!

Top pic - back right is a cockerel and front left. :)
The 2 chicks in the middle of that photo seem less feathered at this stage so could also be male.
Bottom pic - 2 cockerels together.

 I suggest that you use coloured legbands/cable ties and take progress pics to see how they develop. There will probably be a stage later when it will be hard to tell the chicks apart otherwise and as they go through various sub-adult moults the genders are not always so obvious. Watch for wattle development, reddening of combs and wattles - and females generally feather up ahead of their brothers, will often have little tails before the boys do.

I can't see any definite pullets at this stage from those pics but can't see all of the chick's body in some cases.

If you use Irfanview you can re-sample rather than resize so that less picture quality is lost - but these pics are OK. :)

INDEX noted. :)

Location: somewhere
looks like 3 boys and 2 girls to me
a head shot of each chick is very helpful and heaps easier to tell

I would if I could catch them Manzo
Slippery little suckers and so fast! Foster Mum tries to peck me to death while they run screaming from the big bad monster :catch:
I will try to get some better photos tomorrow. No battery in the camera. Thanks!
