Hi There
Love my girls - absolutely has araucana as the hen in the background, she's a doll...
I crossed my Lavender araucana boy with Large Black Australorps and they are so spunky...
I actually named one "Gizmo" from the Gremlins movie LOL she is feral with her crest and big Muftie face. She lays a nice large green egg and likes to announce it in a "huge way when it happens... :shoc :shoc :wee :wee " Real drama Queen.

Do you have a photo of your cross breed fluffy chicken? I'd be interested to see her.

If Mildred had araucana in her wouldn't she have the fluffy cheeks?

Well I went to the Bacchus Marsh auction today. I looked at all the different breeds searching for any similarities they might have with Effie (apart from the pekin/silkie characteristics) and I have to agree with you MrsBiscuit, the back end of an Orpington looked very similar to Effie.
Interestingly enough, its the next breed I would love to have. I've seen some beautiful, blue, black and splash Orpingtons. Do they come in bantam? Maybe I could try crossing one with my silkie roo :-D

In the UK you can easily get bantam blues, blacks and less commonly splashes - I'm not sure about in Australia but I should think the orp club might say on its website?
