What breed is my 2 to Rooster- I
He is absolutely huge and lovely but his brother certainly doesn't want him anywhere near the girls (after 2 years of playing nicely together!!)
I don't want them to hurt each other - so I have to sell him & have a muddle brain and can't remember what the owner before said :(

He looks to have Wyandotte in him but definately crossed He has dark legs and an unusual comb which could point to either Hamburg or even Buttercup. The lacing ( more spangling )could be from Gold /S Hamburg even over the likes of Australorp or Orpington ( since you are saying he is a very large bird )

I'm with you Martin.

I see spangling, lacing and grey legs... Hamburg surely and the angle of the comb looks almost right too (despite it being a single comb). The shape of the back and the colour of the bird says Wyandotte to me too. That leaves the single comb... Neither Hamburg or Wyandotte have a single comb and as single comb is dominant, we have to find another genetics donor...

Linz :)

I'd say Gold Spangled hamburg x Wyandotte, both breeds throw single comb progeny not uncommonly.

Not so sure now myself of the Wyandotte the eye is very dark . I did not see the comb at first, as a blade/single ( looked to be multi spiked at first, hence the reason I mentioned the buttercup ) Head is definately that of Orp or Australorp I believe .
