I have some Plymouth barred rock cross frizzle chicks about 6 weeks old the barring is quite decent as i bought the chicks i dont know their history. Its my limited understanding that the Plymouth roo has two copies of the barring gene so would i be correct in assuming the father was the Plymouth? I ended up with 5 frizzles and 4 straight feathered (two straight black frizzle females, 2 male barred frizzles and one frizzle barred female) 2 barred normal feathered females and 2 barred males! here's a photo of a barred frizzle and barred straight feathered!

From my limited understanding I would say the Frizzle is the Dad..

I have hatched chicks: PR dad to another breed hens and all the chicks look like the mother, a couple of odd barred feathers but 99% like the mother hen.

Thanks guys! If i breed a Ff plymouth roo to a ff feathered plymouth hen will that lower the percent of frizzled birds in comparison to a ff roo and Ff hen?

If you had only male chicks with barring and females without then the PR would have been the mother as barring is sex-linked inheritance. However as they're all barred then the PR was the sire.

Thanks andrewschooks, this is one of the girls (my favorite) frizzled enough to stop the feathers being uniform she just about looks like she has lacing!
