Hi,

I am hoping that someone would be able to help me with what breeds my chickens are.

I purchased these three when they were young as hens and I know that they can never be 100% sure on the sex, But I'm quite sure my beautiful Frizzle (Lou-Lou) is a handsome roo.

Lou-Lou (frizzle) and Tinkerbell (golden colour) are approx. 13 weeks and little Eddie (brown) is nearly 12 weeks old.

Thankyou

I'd say that you frizzle chicken is a Frizzled Light Sussex and the one next to it in the lats picture is a buff columbian sussex.
Im not to sure on the red one though

Do you think there is a reason they should be 'pure'? Maybe they are backyard hybrids?

Thank you all for your help.

I highly doubt if they are pure breeds. But it's good to know what breeds they might have in them.

Lou-Lou the frizzle is beautiful, gentle, but can some times timid. From these pictures do you defiantly think that she would be a roo? I have my fingers crossed that she is a masculine female. I know that this is most likely be a long stretch, but I'd hate to have to re-home him if I can't get council permission to keep him in my area. If I do have to find a new home does anyone know how I would go about doing this? I want him to live a long happy and healthy life and not be sent to to pot. If you know what I mean :(

These birds were a gift to my 3 year old niece. I gave her a couple of fake eggs for her birthday which if she took care of them properly they might hatch. It was so beautiful, she sang to them, tucked them into a warm nest and checked on them constantly. Lucky for her they hatched and she has been learning all about responsibility with feeding and cleaning up after them. She has loved watching them grow and can't wait for her first eggs! Even though they live with me, she will be devastated if we had to loose her favourite Lou-Lou.

Thank you again!

Oh dear. Im afraid Lou Lou is a definite boy. At only 13 weeks the chance it is a girl wth the bright red wattles and comb is about zilch. SORRY
