We've got some turkeys that we are hoping will go broody and raise some poults. We were wondering if there were any particular nesting materials or environment that we should provide to encourage them? Any help would be appreciated.

Turkey broodies come in either very good or non brooding depending on your strain of birds . In nature turkeys are great mums but by selectively breeding some lines this maternal instinct has been breed out . So hopefully you have a brooding strain ( most of the broadbreasted commercial strains are poor brooders) .
The best thing for nesting is straw , the birds will make their own nests . If you put bales on their side in 3 sided setup it gives the birds privacy , warmth and a source of nesting material . They need to be dry also ,so set this up under cover . A good hen will cover up to 20 eggs , they are very protective and are great foragers and will walk their brood around all day collecting food. Good luck

Thanks! We'll give that a go. I'm fairly sure ours aren't commercial strains so hopefully they will go broody for us.
