Hi all,

(not sure where to post sorry!)

So after having the neighbours stunning Peacock in the driveway the other day, I decided that once the 6ft. Fences are complete I must get a cock and hen.

With 6ft. fences will they be able to escape?
And when is it that they make their loud noise? Or is it an all year event?
I'll be getting them as chicks, will this make their wondering less of a problem?

Thanks in advance!

Jaz

6 foot fences wont stop them sorry. Fully enclosed or they are by nature free ranging.

If you get them as chicks, then you will be fine, they will know where their food etc is but during mating season, the boys will roam far and wide.

I agree with Jocler, 6 ft fences wont help in any way, peafowl love to fly & wonder & do a fantastic job of it I must say.
I have hand raised my 3 as chicks & they are the biggest pains in the butts for wondering I just refuse to let them out anymore.

I wouldnt even entertain the idea of letting my whites out........

As for the noise, end of winter/ all of spring they are at thier noisiest. Not too bad for the rest of the year, just make sure you dont have any neighbours close to you, as peafowl are shockers for roosting in trees outide of windows. :D :D & yoddle at 2,3 in the morning   I remember a wild one did this to my neighbour & I saw him at 5 in the morning chasing it around his yard with a stick
