I have entered 3 of my Guinea Fowl in the Toowoomba Royal Show which is less than a week away.

My greatest concern was how I can get them quiet enough!

I originally started a buddy system with some of my well trained bantam Wyandottes. The Guinea Fowl each had there quiet friend that they sat with during the day. I had intentions of using this method until the week before the show, and by then i though they would be quiet enough. I was incredibly impressed with the results until one of the bantam hens’ attacked a guinea fowl male! So that idea went down the drain!

I had realized all they wanted was company! So . . . off to the $2 store and I bought some little mirrors! Now they just stand in the centre of the show box and look at themselves, for the whole day! They even fluff themselves out to make themselves look good!

So there you go! How to train the untrainable animals! Just by looking at there reflections!

That is great information! I have put a link to this thread under 'Showing' in the Guinea Index.

I use have a mirror in the pen where they were to roost every night it worked great was amusing to watch too watch the male strut and preen then dart around to the back of it to see where the other guinea fowl was and get a better look.
The hen use to sit and watch him I could see her thinking your never gunna catch him. They
put themselves to bed every night after a quick chat with the strange guinea fowl that never came out to play or eat....
It works to keep peacocks home to vain creatures they are too
