I was just thinking about their food as I make their mini bulk feeder and a question popped up.

So I was going to start them on Lauke Gamebird Starter, but what I'm not sure of is whether I can bypass the Gamebird Finisher and put the egg layers straight onto Gamebird Maintenance at 6ish weeks? If I am culling some around the 6 week mark then I don't really need to use the Finisher do I?

*edit* Hmm, the store said they don't stock the Lauke feed but stock Barastoc Turkey Starter and grower, would that be ok?

Thanks! I'm hoping I can tee up some fertile eggs next week (and at the same time get some live mealworms for my mealworm farm, woo!).

Well I got my eggs and I now have a clutch of teeny tiny zoomy floofs!

19 in total, although one hatched with a scissor beak and missing an eye, but so far seems to be able to eat and drink so I'll let him grow out (he's been named One-Eyed Pete, lol). There is another that is a bit weird, I'm half thinking it's blind because of it's behaviour, but from what I can tell it too is eating and drinking. I'll keep an eye on both of them though.

I've got quite a cool assortment of colours, there is one in particular that is totally dark except for a mask on it's face that I love, my girls have named it Luna, lol.

I love how they sprawl out when they are sleeping. On their sides, on their backs, flopped over one another. They remind me of puppies or kittens, lol.

Rofl, I have seriously spent far too much time watching them today. Who needs to clean the house when you have quail antics to watch!

I love them!
