Today mum and i went to the Caboolture show. we went there to pick up some chickens. we had been searching all over Australia and we finally found a pair of bantam birchen faverolles. The rooster is old and blind in one eye and the hen is not laying yet and only has 5 toes on one foot the other has 4, but they are practically the only ones in Australia. i wanted to breed a rare breed and when i found out about the faverolles i told mum and we looked up the website for the club. the only colour she liked was Birchen so we started looking. it has taken us a while but we finally got them. i will post some pics soon.

Cheers

Sounds like you've been waiting quite a while for them.

I, like others I expect, am looking forward to hearing how you go with breeding them.

thanks Redial. we talked to Jeff, the secretary of the club, who brought the chooks up for us and he explained their faults.

why do you say they are not the best?

i do not know anything about faverolles. they look like good healthy birds, and i love the colour, birchen is one of my favourite colours.

I would love to see a photo of the whole rooster, I have never seen a birchen faverolles before.

Good luck with your breeding program.

Sam
