There isnt a dedicated area for talk specifically on quail- but there are a few threads on here about them. You could try looking in other poultry talk- do a search ( button up towards the top right hand corner of screen ) or just start a new topic with your questions about them. Quiet a few members have quail as well as other poultry so thread pop up from time to time about them.

Quails are a hot topic at the moment. Someone asked a very similar question earlier today:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7994421

I have posted a few links to quail care in that thread so you might find it interesting to look at!

Thanks guys, thought there wasn't a special site for quail. I have read all the recent posts and some that I have looked up.
I have 12 week and a half old quails I have hatched (got the eggs from the local chook market) was told they were jap but most of them are really light - cream, few are dark like others I have seen on this site. might take some pics and ask others on here that might know and will keep looking for more info thanks again.

Jap quails come in countless colours... including cream.

If you hatched the eggs yourself then it should be a dead give away... Jap quail eggs are anything from mottle brown, blue to creamy grean in colour but it's the size that gives them away. The Japs are about 3x times bigger than the other quails and so are the eggs.

If the eggs were roughly the size of a 10c piece or bigger... Jap
If the eggs were roughly the size of a 5c piece then some other breed

Thanks Huney007 they are jap quails then, I have 5 cream, a couple of them have brown patches on them looks funny, a couple are cream with black spots on there new feathers and the rest are the darker brown. Just have to wait a few weeks to see who is male or female.

Does anyone know much about the Bob Whites? I'm interested in getting some. :claps:

I've put you in the right forum now to talk about your quail. You might like to edit your title heading now and then you'll be away.
