Hey I think I've managed to do it, and I want to know if any others out there are working on these as well...!!

2-3 years ago, with the help of many on this Forum, I set out to work on two projects, creating a Lavender Wyandotte, and whilst at it, a Lavender Leghorn. Whilst still working on my Lavender Wyandottes, I think ive cracked through to achieve the Leghorns. Obviously they will need another 2-3 years of getting the type and size back to a Leghorn, but so far excited with what i've just hatched from my last generation...

I wont give away all my secrets but i'm onto the 4th generation, and now have the Lavender gene in both Male / female Leghorns that i'm breeding with. They're now 7 months old, and whilst mainly black in colour, with a bit of brown in the breast area, the chicks are coming out what's looking like Lavender...

I've included some early photos, and will update with more as they grow older. Excuse the blurriness.

Ok Finally got a photo of my best cockerel from last seasons hatching, the 4th generation. We selected him from about 40 cockerels with him being the best type size and colour. Still got a bit of work to do but getting closer to the real deal. Will breed him back over his mother who is a Black leghorn but carries the Lavender gene. She's got good type so should throw good offspring. 5th generation we should be closer to achieving our goal. Its been a fun road so far and have learnt a lot, thanks to a lot of advice from the experts.

He's looking good. Certainly a few steps along the way to being a Lav Leghorn. Well done.

These are the breeding trio I have, at the time I was yet to have bred a female lavender, so used Lav male over black females that I hoped carried the lavender gene...

It turns out that at least one if not both of the black girls carries the lav gene, as from the parent trio I have hatched about 35 chicks, getting 32 black chicks, and 3 lavender, I being a girl, and 2 boys. So far as you can see from photos all look to be good type.

So hopefully in the next 5 weeks she will start laying, and I will breed lav x lav and hopefully ratio of lav chicks is 100%.....6th generation !
Been quite a fun sort of experiment.

I cannot wait till I am able to breed chicks from my only 'pure' breeding pair !!
I have attached some photos of them below, that I took yesterday. I am taking orders for eggs, and have already sent some out, so that I have others working on them also, just incase mine die or fox gets them !
